Audition Prep

Planning to audition for FWAFA, TeSA, or something else? Amazing!

We’ve got the Audition Prep experience it takes to thoughtfully and effectively guide young hopefuls through the in’s and out’s of what can be a stressful experience because we’re performers AND educators. MJS instructors can often found on both sides of the audition stage, as a performer one day and as judge the next.

We use this duality of experience to make sure every student has the tools to fully prepare for their audition, knows exactly what to expect, and how to tame and harness nervous energy. If you’re navigating the waters of an upcoming audition and looking for some expert guidance, you’re in the right place. Welcome, friend.

For More Details, Check out these FAQs

  • How often are the practice sessions? Two half-hour lessons per week for 8 weeks
  • Will my student be learning in a group? All Audition Prep sessions are 1-on-1 with an instructor and fully customized to the individual student. Parents may sit in if they like, but it’s certainly not required. All doors have windows for periodic viewing as you desire as well.
  • Can two siblings share the lesson times if they’re both auditioning? No, our curriculum is FULLY customized week-to-week based on the individual needs of each student. Siblings will need separate Audition Prep lesson times.
  • Are the practices in-person or online? While it’s possible to have a training virtually if absolutely necessary, in-person sessions are highly encouraged. Virtual sessions can make it tougher for the instructor to fully observe the smaller details in a student’s performance, which are really quite important in Audition Prep.
  • What will you focus on? I’ll let you in on a secret. Audition holders really only care about these three things: First, do you look, sound, and behave like the character they’re looking for? Second, do you give them goosebumps during the performance? And finally, do they think you’ll be friendly and easy to work with? We’ll make sure these three things are on point.
