For students ages 7+
Jam Class was born from the energy of Jam Camp + survey feedback + countless conversations with our MJS Fam. Students told us what they wanted most: a place to connect with peers, take creative risks, and play together.

Like improv class — but for music.
It’s a guided, small-group session where students practice the art of jamming: listening, responding, and building music together. While private lessons focus on building individual skills, Jam Class is where those skills come alive in a social, collaborative setting.
Every class follows one of three flexible flows:
- Core Groove Jam – build one groove and explore variations
- Jam Adventure – improvise around a fun theme (storm, rocket ship, parade)
- Collaboration Challenge – break into small groups to create mini jams
Each flow also weaves in a Jam Element of Collaborative Play — core skills like listening, taking turns, following cues, and supporting a soloist.
Why this matters for your child
Private lessons are essential for learning fundamentals — but music becomes truly exciting when students can share it with others.
Bridge the gap between practice and performance
They’ll apply what they’ve been learning in lessons — rhythm, chords, technique — in real time, with a group.
Stay motivated and inspired
Playing with peers keeps students excited about their instrument. They discover that music isn’t just work in the practice room — it’s connection and fun with others.
Develop real-world musical skills
Whether it’s following a drummer’s cue, backing up a soloist, or keeping time with a group, Jam Class teaches the social side of music-making that every band, ensemble, or jam session requires.
Build confidence through collaboration
Students learn that their musical voice matters, and they can take creative risks in a supportive, encouraging space.
In short: Jam Class is the perfect complement to private lessons. It reinforces technique, builds collaboration skills, and inspires the kind of joy and excitement that keeps kids engaged in music for the long run.

Jam Class isn’t about perfection — it’s about building skills that last, creating connections, and helping every student discover their musical voice.

Ever wanted to jam with other musicians but weren’t sure where to start? Maybe you’re not in a band (yet!) or haven’t had a chance to play music with others.
That’s exactly why we created JAM—a super chill, judgment-free zone where you can meet fellow musicians, experiment with different sounds, and grow your confidence playing in a group setting.
WHAT HAPPENS AT JAM ?
- We’ll kick things off with a few songs everyone can jump in on, no matter your skill level.
- You’ll have the freedom to explore, create, and collaborate
- Our awesome instructors will be there to guide, support, and jump in when needed—but this is all about your music, your way.
- You’ll gain new skills, new friends, and a fresh dose of confidence in your ability to play with others.
WHY JAMMING MATTERS 🎶
Jamming isn’t about rehearsing a song until it’s perfect—it’s about playing together, exploring new ideas, and building your ability to collaborate musically.
🎵 Learn to Listen – Playing in a group teaches you to listen closely to others, react in real time, and find your place in the mix.
🎵 Develop Confidence – Improvising or playing along with a group helps you trust your instincts and feel more comfortable making music on the spot.
🎵 Improve Timing & Groove – Music feels best when everyone locks into a groove together. Jamming helps you sharpen your rhythm and learn how to follow or lead a group.
🎵 Expand Your Creativity – You don’t have to stick to the notes on the page! Jamming lets you try new things, experiment with sounds, and create something fresh in the moment.
🎵 Build Musical Friendships – Playing alone is great, but playing with others is where the magic happens. You’ll connect with musicians, learn from each other, and maybe even find people you want to keep making music.
At Jam, the goal isn’t to perfect a performance—it’s to grow as musicians by making music together in a fun, supportive environment. No pressure, just great music and good vibes.
🎸WHO CAN JOIN?
Jam is open to ages 7 and up! While we welcome younger musicians, we expect students to be able to participate on their instrument and engage with their peers in a collaborative jam session.
Don’t sit this one out—you’re more capable than you think! Grab your instrument, bring your voice, and come jam with us. 🎶🔥
