— A very happy MJS audition family
Timing matters — a lot.
Audition windows open on each school’s schedule, and spots fill as families commit. The sooner you start once your window opens, the more prepared — and calm — your performer will be. When in doubt, get in early.
For entrance auditions into FWAFA, TeSA, or I.M. Terrell, we typically recommend 4–8 weeks of twice-weekly half-hour sessions.
100%
Every family who has completed a full 8 weeks of twice-weekly sessions has earned their spot at FWAFA, TeSA, and I.M. Terrell. Every single one.

Frequently asked questions
+When should we start?
As early as you can once you know the audition. Even a few focused weeks make a real difference — but more runway means the right song, deeper coaching, and a calmer performer on the day. For the big arts-school entrance auditions, 4–8 weeks is our sweet spot.
+How many sessions will we need?
It depends on the audition, the timeline, and where your performer is starting. Tell us the details and we’ll map out an honest plan — no padding. For entrance auditions into FWAFA, TeSA, or I.M. Terrell, we typically recommend 4–8 weeks of twice-weekly half-hour sessions.
+Do you only prep for FWAFA and TeSA?
Not at all. We coach for any audition, competition, honors ensemble, college program, or casting call. If there’s a room and a few nerve-wracking minutes, we can prep for it.
+Who does the coaching?
Formally trained instructors who are experienced performers themselves — for voice and a range of instruments. You’re coached by someone who’s actually been in the room.
+How many spots do the schools have?
It varies a lot year to year and grade to grade, depending on current students’ enrollment and how many apply. That’s exactly why we recommend auditioning as early in the window as you can.
+How do we get started — and what does it cost?
Audition Prep runs through our regular lesson sessions, so you book the time you need. See current rates in the
