Maybe one of these is why you’re here?

He says he wants to play — but I don’t want to pour money into something he’ll quit in three weeks.

She loved lessons with her first teacher for a while… then it turned into worksheets, scales, and music she didn’t enjoy, so the spark just… went out.

I’ve always wanted to learn. But I’m an adult with no music background, and I feel ridiculous even thinking I could maybe do this.

Our last place taught each student the same songs and exercises in the same order. My kid isn’t the same as every other kid.

We hear every one of these — and they’re exactly why families and students stay with us for years.

Most lessons fizzle for one reason: they’re built for an imaginary average student. And nobody is average. Here’s the difference:

The other guys’ way
The MJS way
The same basic, templated path for every student
A unique path for each student, built around your interests, your goals, and how you learn best
Musicians teaching you however it happened to work for them
Trained educators who understand how brains actually learn — and adapt to yours
It all revolves around the next song or the next book — the student was never really the center
You’re the center — we build real skills, theory & musicianship into songs you actually want to play
One-size-fits-all — plus pressure to “keep up” with some imaginary standard
Zero pressure to fit any mold — the journey is yours
Students who learn differently end up frustrated and unseen — and too many give up on music for good
Real, hands-on experience with learning differences — ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety & more — and we work hard to celebrate and accommodate every learning style and need
Pushed to perform — then charged for it, with participation fees and tickets your guests have to buy
Around 4 performance opportunities a year (many of them free) — with zero pressure to perform if that’s not your goal

Reality: you were never the problem — lazy pedagogy & teaching is.

Kristi · Founder

That’s exactly why our founder — as devoted to the science of teaching as she is to the art of making music — built a teaching method of her own:

The ADVANCE Method

Shaped by years in the studio, it works nothing like a typical lesson plan. Most studios just run a curriculum — book one, book two, book three, a recital at the end. That’s a conveyor belt, not teaching. ADVANCE is a cycle, not a ladder. There’s no “graduating” — just continued evolution.

A

Assess. We get to know you as a whole person: your skills, what excites you, how you learn, and any past lesson wounds to be careful with.

D

Decide. We choose the next goal together. The longer you’re with us, the more you drive it.

V

Validate. Before the work, we explain why it matters — what this song is teaching you and what it unlocks. (The step almost everyone skips.)

A

Acquire. The new skill gets built — taught the way you learn best, not the same way for every student.

N

Nourish. We stop and let you enjoy the new skill — feeding the love of music itself, not just building music muscles.

C

Cement. We mark the win with a moment you’ll remember: a recording, a concert, playing for grandma at Christmas.

E

Evolve. We reflect on how far you’ve come and choose what’s next. Then we cycle back to Assess and go again.

The student is the protagonist. We’re just here to help them figure out who they’re becoming.

And progress doesn’t stay invisible. We mark every win in a way that fits the student — a recording, a video for grandma, or one of our recitals if they want a stage. Performance is always an open door, never a requirement.

Music Junkie Studios lessons

Why we’re not the cheapest (on purpose).

The studio down the street might be cheaper. But ask their clients one thing: “Did your kid have the same teacher last year? ” If they’ve been taking lessons for a while, I’m betting they’ve had a looooooooong string of instructors.

Our instructors are W-2 employees, not gig contractors passing through. They stay for years longer than any other studio you’ll find. So the student builds a real relationship with someone who knows them — their quirks, their goals, what they were working on six months ago — year after year.

And this isn’t a franchise running someone else’s playbook. It’s a studio built by a working musician, educator, and mom — who genuinely cares how your family’s experience feels.

>The teachers care.

>The front desk (run by students who’ve learned with us for 10+ years!) knows your name.

>The policies were designed around what real families actually need, by someone who’s lived it.

>The whole place is built to be somewhere students want to come back to.

A few dollars cheaper somewhere else gets you lessons. Here, you get a studio that’s genuinely in your corner — voted the best in Fort Worth four years running. That’s the difference families feel, and the reason they stay.

Frequently asked questions

We have options to keep you on track. Monthly Tuition students can use bonus make-up options like our Free Lesson Days (offered periodically, when we open them), or switch to an online lesson — same day, same time, same teacher. Drop-In students can reschedule with at least 3 hours’ notice. Tuition is appointment-based, not attendance-based, so there are no refunds or credits for missed lessons. Make-ups are a free courtesy, not a guaranteed part of tuition — but we work hard to make sure you don’t fall behind.

We offer three enrollment options to fit your family: Drop-Ins for maximum flexibility, Monthly Tuition (our most popular — discounted rate with a 48-lesson annual guarantee), and our 12-Month Membership for the best value with a locked-in rate. Visit our sign-up page to download the Service Guide with current pricing.

Head to our sign-up page to view instructor availability and book your first lesson. Want to try us out with no strings attached? Our Drop-In option lets you book a single lesson. Ready for a consistent weekly spot? Monthly Tuition secures your preferred time with your teacher.

Almost certainly not. We teach littles, teens, adult beginners, and lifelong learners coming back after decades away. There’s no too young, too old, too shy, or too late here. We meet you where you are and grow from there. Not sure if it’s the right time? Book a single drop-in and just try it.
